Projects: AmbITion Scotland; AmbITion Phase 2

AmbITion Scotland is a digital development programme that forms a core piece of Creative Scotland’s Cultural Economy Programme, supported by the National Lottery through Creative Scotland and designed and project managed by Culture Sparks in partnership with Rudman Consulting. It exists for individuals and organisations within the arts, culture and heritage sectors who wish to increase their operational efficiency, business model resilience, and digital artistic output.

Through AmbITion Scotland, Culture Sparks is committed to building digital capacity and capability within Scotland’s arts sector, changing mindsets to nurture and grow a culture of digital confidence. This year saw the evaluation of the first phase of AmbITion Scotland activity, as well as the launch of an exciting new £1m digital development programme that will continue to support individuals and organisations in Scotland’s arts, culture and heritage sectors throughout 2012-13.

The first phase of AmbITion Scotland was evaluated through a series of surveys carried out amongst partners, associates and the wider sector, focusing on the activity and benefits obtained from AmbITion over the past 18 months. We also gathered feedback from our Project Specialists (consultants) and from the AmbITion Scotland team, to create a comprehensive report of conclusions and recommendations to inform the development of the second phase of the AmbITion project.

Phase 2 of the AmbITion project will see us working strategically with partners NESTA and Sync to offer a range of sector-wide opportunities for digital development, experimentation and innovation. Planning and preparations for the second phase of the project included meetings with key delivery partners, shaping the project as it evolves to benefit the widest range of arts, culture and heritage organisations at all stages of their digital journeys.
