Projects: VeloCity
VeloCity is a collective and cultural response to the impact of the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games on the city of Glasgow and its communities, and we were delighted to be involved in the development of the VeloCity Operational Plan, published in April 2012.
We designed a public consultation process, inviting online feedback via a prototype web-based tool that we developed for the project, and collecting feedback face to face throughout the London 2012 Open Weekend (23/24 July 2011) at three community engagement events organised by the VeloCity team. Culture Sparks were responsible for developing all of the consultation materials for the weekend, as well as creating maps to illustrate the social context and demographic profile of the clusters that the VeloCity team identified.
The feedback that we gathered, together with the maps that we created, are part of the Operational Plan that now provides a framework and methodology for the ongoing VeloCity project during the lead up to, during and after the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games.
This unique approach of layering, connecting and mapping has resulted in a fascinating portrait of the city, that now underpins a series of action plans and will inform all future VeloCity projects.
